1. What are the age requirements for students attending the event?
CHALLENGE 2012 is designed for middle and high school students. There are no age requirements–we leave it to the discretion of the youth leader whether a student should go. We encourage that students have finished the 7th grade and we also accept newly graduated 12th graders.
2. What does Challenge cost?
Registration for Challenge is $275 per person. This includes all programing and 12 meals during the week. You will need to pay $100 per person as you register. Final payment of $175 will be due June 1st. Housing is a separate cost – it will be approximately $156 per person for 5 nights with 4 people in a room.
3. When does the event begin and end?
Challenge begins with registration at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The first event is the Sunday evening Gathering. Challenge ends with the Gathering on Thursday night.
4. Can I volunteer at the event?
Absolutely. We need help from volunteers in many capacities, including housing, security, rec sports and medical. Volunteers must be over 21. Check out our volunteer application here.
5. Do I need to stay in a conference hotel?
Yes, all groups need to stay in the conference hotels. We have negotiated specials rates with the hotels that your group will be unable to get separately. We also have security, medical and housing staff in each hotel to provide a positive environment for your group.
6. Are there scholarships available?
At this time there are no scholarships available.
7. What is the expected attendance ?
We are anticipating 5, 000 to 6,000 attendees in New Orleans.
8. I'm a parent; can I accompany my child to Challenge?
If you are a youth group sponsor, you may come with your church group or if you would like to be a volunteer for Challenge, you may attend. Unless you are serving in one of these capacities, we do not allow parents to attend Challenge.
9. I'm a youth worker with children, can I bring them along?
CHALLENGE 2012 is set-up for middle school and high school students We do now not allow any other students or children to attend Challenge The venue is not an appropriate environment for younger children.
10. My student is not part of a youth group; can he/she attend alone?
Students have to be a part of a group to attend CHALLENGE 2012. If you would like for us to locate groups from your area, please send an email to student@efca.org with your city, state, and zip code.
11. How do I sign up for ministry opportunities?
? Ministry registration will become available in early 2012. Please check the Ministry pages for further details in the months to come.
12. How do I sign up for training options?
Training Tracks registration will become available in early 2012. Not all training tracks and equipping labs will require pre-registration. Please check the training pages for further details on what will be offered in the months to come.
